Bishop Marc A. Cooper
From the day Bishop Marc A. Cooper asked his father, the late Elder Lenwood Cooper Jr. (Founder of Cooper Temple COGIC) to anoint his hands to play the piano, Pastor Cooper has always had a passion for ministry and serving God’s people.
Before accepting his call to the ministry in 1995, Bishop Cooper served as minister of music at Cooper Temple COGIC in Miami, Fl. for many years. It was during these years that his music ministry flourished and expanded into the areas of song writing, music production and the formulation of several groups and choirs, most notably, the Stellar nominated Marc Cooper & Friends and the Stellar Award winning and Grammy nominated Miami Mass Choir.
After the passing of his parents, Elder Lenwood Cooper Jr. (January 1997) and Mother Mildred Cooper (January 1998), the mantle was passed. In August 1998, Bishop Marc Cooper was appointed, pastor of Cooper Temple Church of God in Christ, by former General Board member, the late Bishop Jacob Cohen. Under Bishop Cooper’s leadership, the church now known as Upper Room Ministries of Miami Gardens experienced exponential growth and a new sanctuary was built in 2001.
Bishop Cooper has been blessed to serve in many capacities, District Superintendent of the Miami District, South Miami District, and the Upper Room Fellowship District in Eastern Florida Jurisdiction. He served as special assistant to the Interim Bishop of Eastern Florida and General Board member, Bishop Brandon Porter. He organized the jurisdiction’s first AIM Convention in 2014 and served as Chairman. Bishop Cooper served as the National Coordinator of Pilgrimage to Pentecost (Department of Evangelism). Bishop Cooper currently serves as District Superintendent of the thriving South Region Fellowship District and Administrative Assistant of Florida Central Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Edward Robinson Sr. On June 23, 2021, Bishop Cooper was consecrated and elevated to the office of Auxiliary Bishop in the Churches of God in Christ, Inc. (Memphis, TN).
Bishop Marc A. Cooper is truly anointed to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His life’s goal is to empower and encourage others to use their gifts and talents to build God’s Kingdom.
