Evangelist Joy Cooper has always used music as an outlet for ministry. Her gift flourished as she worked alongside her husband Bishop Marc Cooper, of Upper Room Ministries, writing songs and coordinating projects for nationally signed artists for Malaco/Savoy records. This manifested with her hit song, “What God Has for Me, It is for Me”, for which she and the Miami Mass Choir won a Stellar Award in 1998. While faithfully working with her husband, her evangelistic ministry continued to manifest itself.
Having been an aspiring missionary in her local church, the constant travel with the choir propelled her to seek a broader base of ministry. Due to the enormous testimonies of deliverance through the song, moving into the realm of national evangelism was a natural spiritual progression. Thus, she received her national evangelist license from the Church of God in Christ in 1999.
Several life changing events have propelled Evangelist Cooper’s ministry of help, counseling, education, and outreach. She is primarily a helpmeet for her husband in the building of Upper Room Ministries, and the newly formed Florida Southeast Ecclesiastical Fellowship. She is the mother of sons; Marc Joshua, Johnathan, and daughter, Milen. She is also loving grandmother to Maeghan and Aubri.
Evangelist Cooper holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in Counseling from St. Thomas University. She has been a dedicated counselor for over 32 years in the Broward County School System. Her love is for God and his people. Although her emphasis is mental health counseling, her desire is to minster to the body of Christ, to walk in deliverance, wholeness, and abundant life.
